Guide · choosing a sound system

Which sound system for your number of guests?

The right sound system depends mainly on three things: the number of guests, the venue (indoors or outdoors) and the type of event (background music, speeches or a dance party). Here is how to get it right without overpaying — or under-sizing.

Questions to ask yourself before choosing

  • How many guests? This is the first factor for power.
  • Indoors or outdoors? Outdoors, sound disperses: you need more power and bass.
  • Background music or a dance floor? Getting people dancing calls for a subwoofer; a drinks reception or speeches do not.
  • Do you need a microphone or DJ decks? Think about it now: everything plugs into the same system.

Our recommendations by event size

Indoors or outdoors makes all the difference

Indoors, the sound is ‘contained’ by the walls: you can go one size down. Outdoors (garden, beach, terrace), there is nothing to reflect the sound — plan for more power and a subwoofer from ~80 people. For venues with no socket nearby, we also offer self-powered solutions: see sound system hire in Anglet.

What about the DJ side?

All our speakers connect to any DJ deck. To mix, add an XDJ-RX2 DJ system or read our guide which DJ equipment to start with. You can put everything together in one go on the booking page.

Frequently asked questions

How powerful a sound system for 100 people?

For a dance party of around 100 people, allow two active speakers with a subwoofer (our FBT complete system with 1 subwoofer). Indoors, that is comfortable; outdoors, it is the recommended minimum.

Do I really need a subwoofer?

For a drinks reception, speeches or background music, no: two speakers are enough. To get people dancing, yes: the subwoofer provides the low end that makes people want to move, and takes the load off the speakers.

Can I add DJ decks to the sound system?

Yes. All our sound systems connect to DJ decks (XDJ, combo of 2 decks + mixer, or OPUS-QUAD). You build your sound + DJ pack directly when you book.

Are delivery and set-up available?

Yes, across the Basque Coast. We deliver, set up, tune the sound and collect the equipment after the event. Pickup is also possible.
